Now that we’re well into the New Year, we can get a clearer picture of e-cigarette regulations that may be coming down the pike.
For a quick overview of the types of regulations vapers can encounter, check out Common Local Regulations Affecting E-Cigarette Users for more information.
Below are a few regulations and other legislative activities being considered in 2015:
- E-cigarettes declared a health threat in California
- The San Francisco Bay Area Transit board is set to vote on an e-cig ban for all trains and buses. The measure is expected to pass, and will place e-cigarettes in the same category as tobacco cigarettes
- Wisconsin legislators are looking to at e-cigarettes to the state’s public smoking ban enacted in 2010
- Mexico has taken a pretty aggressive approach to e-cigarettes, banning them outright and targeting imports. Earlier in January, health authorities confiscated over 9000 e-cigs.
- New Orleans includes e-cigarettes in its measure banning smoking in bars. The smoking ban was supported by several prominent musicians, but it’s unclear why e-cigs were included.
- The New York state legislature is considering a bill to add e-cigarette cartridges to a list of items subject to the state’s 75% wholesale tax on cigarettes.
